Qualifying

Was speaking with A.

Realisation:

Once I qualify, it will all be worth it.

This will be the new mantra.

Art galleries in Shoreditch

So day starts with me going for a run, then yoga and a luxurious mani pedi before meeting my dear Nickers at the espresso room for good coffee.
A nice wander into St James' Park and a pitstop at Urban Outfitters for some style inspiration.
Then it's drinks at Jaguar Shoes the artsy bar that is quintessentially Shoreditch.

Decent cocktails

Funky wall art

And an art gallery in the basement.

Chilling out around London with Nik was really nice as well. Although slightly bittersweet. She reminds me of what life was like during Raffles days when things were so much easier and we made the effort to be more creative.
And now she's living the life. On a PhD, rocking the androgynous "grandpa outfit" complete with chic glasses.
I'm wearing black skinnies, a simple top and huge sunglasses with perpetual worry of whether I have my work clothes ironed.
Have I given up?

London Calling

4 months later and I'm back.
It's been 3 months. Running has come and gone and come back again.
I came showing up with my bags at A's completely unannounced and 13000 miles from home.
Obviously I like to suprise.

Weight is being lost. and gained. and losing again.
After giving up my life rent-free in central London I've moved into stepford wife territory. I'm bored out of my mind. But I am making do.
Running is no longer in glamorous regent's park. Instead it's 3 rounds round the secure gated community. Let's hope I keep it up. Half marathon in October. Possible?

Stretching I need to do more of. As with taking vitamins, logging my calorie intake and drinking more green tea.

abandonment

so yes.
the nails have finally been cut after 3 months. into a nice short gi jane style. pretty big change from long bright trophy wife red.

can anyone else tell that there is nothing interesting in my life?

the nails are a switch from living the lazy life into the working girl that is to be me.
hmm shall see.

To Thine Self Be True

So it's a new year.
(And yes, this is typically late.)

I'm not in the habit of making resolutions. First of all, I get extremely stressed out if I don't achieve things and secondly, I don't really want to feel pressured into making any.

So in the true new year's spirit I will come up with vague notions of what I would like to see myself doing this year.

In no particular order.
- Drinking more green tea
- Stretching more - (I'm serious. I really don't want to be some old rickety person in 60 years.. I'm already nearly there. Rickety. not 40.)
- Running more (I need a reason to stretch, no?)
- Listening more to people
- Talking less
- Reading the Economist (as J says, it's extremely boring, but you know it's good for you.)
- Figuring out how to wear makeup without looking washed out / like a clown
- Sticking to goals
- Getting a job (see above)

We'll see how these things work out.
Ultimately I want one thing - balance. I think if I'm physically balanced, mentally things would be a bit clearer. And if they were clearer, perhaps they would be easier to achieve.

I'm writing this sitting in the same chair when I started my first blog, aged 14.
Almost 10 years later I see a shadow of my former self.
Let's hope I get the fire back.

New Beginnings

Hello Everyone,

Friends, Strangers, Well-wishes.
Post number one and I'm completely unsure of what should go in.

Well I *do* have some sort of an idea. The actual formation of that into words will take a while.

Let me attempt a run. I'll come back and let you know how it goes. The time is 10.40pm and I am currently in Singapore.
